Nazca Lines of Peru

Sometime between 450 and 600 A.D., an ancient civilization created hundreds of figures, geometric designs and line configurations over the face of the Peruvian Nazca Desert. Modern day visitors only get a sense of the accuracy of the drawings when flying over the desert. The largest geoglyph measures over 660 feet (200 meters) in diameter, which leads many to ponder how and why an ancient people accomplished the feat without aerial guidance.

Teotihuacan Ruins

In the Mexican basin lie the vast remnants of an ancient culture that many believe indicates that the community possessed advanced astronomical intellect not noted in later societies. A large central “Pyramid of the Sun” provides the hub of a complex series of pyramids positioned in the same configuration found in the planetary solar system.

Textual Documentation of Advanced Technology

Though written over two millennia ago, the Ancient Indian Epics known as the “Mahabharata and Ramayana” discuss humans in flying machines engaged in a great battle and using weaponry of mass destruction. The Biblical book of Ezekiel recants visitations of human-like beings travelling through the air in something that resembled wheels within wheels.

In Africa, Australia, China and many different countries around the world, caves and rocks bear carvings of human figures painted with spiked halos around the head region. Intricate carvings found at a Mayan ruins site in Tikal, Guatemala feature human figures dressed in full-body suits and wearing something appearing similar to a helmet. One representation depicts a helmet-type device complete with what may be a breathing apparatus.

Ancient Aircraft

Carvings in Egypt depict objects that appear similar to modern aircraft. One picture in fact closely resembles a helicopter. A wooden item found in an Egyptian tomb resembles an aeroplane complete with a body, fuselage, wings, rudder and tail. Amongst pre-Incan ruins, archaeologists also discovered many golden objects created sometime between 500 and 800 B.C. These unusual objects accurately resemble helicopters, jets and the space shuttle. Numerous medieval paintings contain mysterious flying objects in the background. Some of these objects depict aerial flight and carry human passengers.

Architectural Marvels

The Great Pyramid of Egypt contains approximately 100,000 stones and each stone weighs somewhere around two tons. Many theorize that ropes, trees and other stones assisted the Egyptians in moving and setting the stones. The number of tree trunks implemented and requiring replacement would be phenomenal. Constructing a ramp that reached the heights of the pyramid would also require tens of thousands of stones, yet no trace of these stones remains. Incan ruins and remnants of other cultures feature stones so precisely cut and positioned that they required no mortar and withstood the elements for hundreds and thousands of years.

Sumerian Culture

The Sumerians occupied what is now known as Iraq over 5,000 years ago. They invented the wheel, mathematics and written language. The people used advanced agricultural techniques, established an organized military and possessed knowledge of astrology. The civilization attributed their origin and success to the gods they called Anunnaki. Some equate Sumerian history with stories from the Bible.

The Flower of Life

Recognized since ancient times, the flower of life consists of a series of overlapping circles that progress outward and create a hexagonal pattern within a large circle. The geometric pattern appears in many ancient carvings and paintings found in almost two dozen countries around the world including China, Israel, Great Britain and Romania. Having great spiritual significance to many ancient cultures, the origin of the symbol remains unknown. Many believe the geometrical equations contained within the figure provide the building blocks for mathematical and scientific disciplines.

The Antikythera Mechanism

Architecture is not the only evidence of advanced knowledge found in ancient civilizations. In 1901, divers found a strange piece of machinery from a shipwreck off the coast of Antikythera Greece now dubbed the Antikythera Mechanism. Testing revealed that the device dated to around 100 B.C. After extensive evaluation of the components and ambitious recreations, scientists discovered that the intricate workings of the clocklike machine accurately display a calendar that revolves around a four-year cycle. The mechanism also predicts solar eclipses.

The Baghdad Battery

Discovered around Baghdad in 1936, this unusual device dated to around 224 A.D. The battery consists of a clay jar housing an iron rod held in place by a copper cylinder. The cylinder bears evidence of soldering and asphalt sealed the top of the cylinder opening around the rod with asphalt. Recreations indicate the mechanism produced a small amount of electricity. The question remains as to why an ancient civilization required a current-producing device.
